Self-Guided Tours
If you feel a little adventurous, take yourself on a self-guided tour. Just be sure you have a good map.

Kidston Gold Mine: The Kidston Gold Mine closed in July 2001. It was the largest open cut gold mine in Australia, producing over 3.4 million ounces of gold during it's 17 years of operation. The sheer size of the man-made crater can be appreciated from the road to the old Kidston Battery. The Kidston Battery operated in the 1800's on the site of the historic town of Kidston. The 'Old' Kidston battery operated in the 1800's and is located near the existing gold mine and on the site of the historic town of Kidston. You can drive from Bedrock to Einasleigh as a day trip or jump aboard our Savannahlander/Einasleigh train tour run on Thursdays.

Copperfield Gorge: The Copperfield Gorge, on the Copperfield River, cuts straight through the town of Einasleigh, making for a visual spectacle and great place for a dip!
